It's a moving experience…..
After delays due to covid and client workloads, we are pleased to say that our new extension to the Village Medical Centre in Slough has started on site.
This project has been designed to allow a surgery house in an outdated “life expired” building to be combined with the parent surgery in a purpose built surgery building.
The extension has been designed to respond to the very strong architectural qualities of the host surgery, and aims to compliment it without being overbearing.
One of the two extensions is situated on the location of the temporary pharmacy on the site. To enable the construction works, we had to move the Portakabin unit.
Now, I have worked on many projects in my architectural career and they say you learn something new every day. But, I think this is the first and probably the last time we will have to relocate a fully functioning pharmacy unit from one side of a site to another, whilst ensuring it will be up and running the same day.
Thanks to the crane crew and a lot of forward planning from the client, the pharmacy, and Artichoke, it went seamlessly and the site is ready to welcome the addition of the extensions.
